Hug Lady - a woman who made it her
mission to embrace soldiers before they were sent to war or came home to the
U.S. - has died aged 83.
Elizabeth Laird claimed to have
given more than 500,000 hugs to servicemen and women at Fort Hood and did it
all because she wanted them to know someone cared about them back home.
She went to almost every send-off
and return of soldiers in 12 years and was the last person many of them hugged
before being killed in battle.
When she was hospitalized, petitions and crowd
funding pages set up in her honor were filled with an outpouring of thanks for
the love she shared all around.
